This application offers estimations for the appropriate insertion lengths of umbilical arterial and venous catheters based on the birth weight of neonates within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

UmbiCalc utilizes the algorithm developed by Tambasco et al., as detailed in their 2021 publication, “A Novel and Accurate Method for Estimating Umbilical Arterial and Venous Catheter Insertion Length” found in the Journal of Perinatology. This algorithm is founded on statistical modeling gathered from a representative cohort of the contemporary NICU population and has been validated across a diverse spectrum of birth weights.

The app is designed for educational purposes, specifically aimed at neonatologists, pediatricians, and advanced practice providers. It is important to note that UmbiCalc is not intended for direct clinical application or medical decision-making.
